Inept

Artist: Inept
Genre: Punk
Album: So Much Between Us
Release: 2008

All heed the sound of Chicago’s Punk scene. I aint talkin’ punk mutha#$#$ either. I am talking pure energetic music. Yo’ Inept has got this Punk thing sewed up.

You can feel the energy coming from the CD, from the moment that you press play. The CD was pulsating in my hand & I hadn't even had coffee.

It’s All In our Head, which is the very first track on the album, doesn’t even give you time to throw the plastic shrink wrap from the CD outta ya car window. Not that I would suggest doing that. Literally 3 seconds in, front man Anthony Lira takes a grip with the vocal chords. The up-tempo drums, guitars, & shouting of the hook culminate quickly to set the tone for what is one of the best tracks on this album.

The track titled The Songs He Wrote, makes its entry with studio drums that come to life. Inept takes a different approach on this one with regards to the build up to the verse. The guitars enthrall with its subtle beginning, then branching off into a more amped arrangement. The vocals are melodic on this piece. The fact that the lead vocalist is so talented, does nothing but enhance the melodies. So much so, that you almost have to wonder when he sings “But you know all the words to the songs that he wroooooote” Is he speaking from experience? Hey a lil’ cocky attitude here and there never hurt nobody.

There are bountiful locations on where this album can be consumed. Based on he the energy from this offering from Inept, this is a certainly a band that you want to see live. Well that, & the fact that I’ve seen them live before (awesome show by the way). This album is a rider for the car, a must play at BBQ’s, & graduation parties.
