Slum Village

Artist - Slum Village
Album - Villa Manifesto
Genre - Hip Hop
Release - 2009

Slum Village took it back to the 80's by releasing an EP. That's a lost art form nowadays.
Nitro starts off with a Richard Pryor monologue sample then it transitions into one of dem stripped down gritty NYC Hip Hop joints. The beat basically is drums, horns & turn tables. Lyrically, they came a lil harder than usual on this right here.
The Slum Village that we are use to hearing, comes out on Dope Man. This is the hottest trak on the EP. I like to classify this type of track as Trip Hop. Trip Hop consists of a unique collection of sounds & eclectic drums.
Villa Manifesto may only be 5 tracks in length, but this is more than enough to tie you over til' the album drops. The EP has a retro feel track, a trip hop track & there's even one for the ladies in Cloud 9. Check for em later this year, nah, better yet go & get this EP. It's only $3.99 on itunes...
